Attività
Activities:
˗ Development and optimization of highly sensitive analytical procedures, based on spectroscopic, electrochemical and mass-spectroscopy techniques, aimed to characterize and quantify inorganic species at trace levels in real samples;
˗ Chemical speciation, in real and synthetic samples, by the application of analytical techniques suitable to preserve the chemical equilibria and by data elaboration with software aimed to deal with chemical models and to calculate formation constants.
Application fields:
˗ quantification and/or speciation of inorganic species in natural samples: soils, sediments, natural water, vegetables, atmospheric particulate, biological fluids, food supplements, drugs, food;
˗ Investigation on biogeochemical cycles of elements and on environmental contamination by inorganic species;
˗ characterization of acid/base properties of macromolecules or of newly synthesised molecules.
˗ determination of the metal complexes stability in aqueous solution;
˗ Investigation of redox equilibria of biologically active substances with proved antioxidant capacity.
Available techniques:
˗ Inductively Coupled Plasma – Atomic Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-AES);
˗ Graphite Furnace - Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (GF-AAS);
˗ Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS);
˗ Anodic, Cathodic and Adsorptive cathodic Stripping Voltammetry (ASV, CSV, AdSV) with Hanging Mercury Drop Electrodes(HMDE);
˗ Anodic Stripping Voltammetry with nanostructured electrodes;
˗ Potentiometry;
˗ UV-vis spectrophotometry
˗ Fluorescence spectrophotometry
˗ Chemometric techniques.
