CH4.0 Summer School 2025
The 2nd Summer School of the “CH4.0” (Department of Excellence) project will be held in Bardonecchia (TO, IT) from 2 to 6 June 2025. The focus of the Summer School will be on artificial intelligence (AI) for the design and characterization of new molecules and materials for energy applications. To achieve global energy security and emission goals, existing clean energy technologies need to keep improving. AI will enhance the capacity and creativity of scientists in generating and testing new ideas and producing the necessary scientific breakthroughs that will enable disruptive energy technologies.
The topics covered during the School will encompass fundamentals of AI methods applied to energy research, fundamentals and case of studies in various energy conversion and storage technologies (catalysis, photocatalysis, solar cells, electrocatalysis, batteries, etc), in situ and operando characterization techniques, touching on various ethical aspects in scientific research.

La seconda Summer School del progetto “CH4.0” (Dipartimento di Eccellenza) si terrà a Bardonecchia (TO, IT) dal 2 al 6 giugno 2025. Il focus della Summer School sarà sull'intelligenza artificiale (IA) per la progettazione e la caratterizzazione di nuove molecole e materiali per applicazioni energetiche. Per raggiungere gli obiettivi globali di sicurezza energetica ed emissioni, le tecnologie di energia pulita esistenti devono continuare a migliorare. L'IA migliorerà la capacità e la creatività degli scienziati nel generare e testare nuove idee e produrre le necessarie scoperte scientifiche che consentiranno tecnologie energetiche dirompenti.
Gli argomenti trattati durante la School comprenderanno i fondamenti dei metodi di IA applicati alla ricerca energetica, fondamenti e casi di studio in varie tecnologie di conversione e stoccaggio dell'energia (catalisi, fotocatalisi, celle solari, elettrocatalisi, batterie, ecc.), tecniche di caratterizzazione in situ e operando, toccando vari aspetti etici nella ricerca scientifica.

Convegno di Chimica Analitica Forense 2025
The Forensic Analytical Chemistry Conference 2025 is a major event that brings together researchers, practitioners and industry experts to discuss the latest developments in forensic analytical chemistry. The conference will be held in Turin on 26-27 June 2025, at the Aldo Moro Complex of the University of Turin. Il Convegno di Chimica Analitica Forense 2025 è un evento di rilievo che riunisce ricercatori, professionisti e esperti del settore per discutere gli ultimi sviluppi nella chimica analitica forense. Il convegno si terrà a Torino il 26 e 27 giugno 2025, presso il Complesso Aldo Moro dell'Università di Torino. Scuola di Chemiometria e Machine Learning con Python
The School of Chemometrics and Machine Learning with Python is open to students, PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, researchers, PAs, POs and third parties (industries and services). The 5-day course will be held at the Department of Chemistry, University of Turin from February 24 to 28, 2025. The program includes the following topics: introduction to Python, hints of univariate statistics, hypothesis testing, unsupervised models (PCA, CA, MCR-ALS), supervised models (classification and regression), hints of Deep Learning (Keras, TensorFlow).

La Scuola di Chemiometria e Machine Learning con Python è aperta sia a personale non strutturato (studenti, dottorandi, borsisti post-dottorato) sia a personale strutturato (ricercatori, PA, PO) e a terzi (industrie e servizi). La scuola, della durata di 5 giorni, si terrà presso il Dipartimento di Chimica dell'Università di Torino dal 24 al 28 febbraio 2025. Il programma aprirà con un'introduzione a Python, per proseguire con cenni di statistica univariata, test di ipotesi, modelli non supervisionati (PCA, CA, MCR-ALS), modelli supervisionati (classificazione e regressione), cenni di Deep Learning (Keras, TensorFlow).

Summer School di Ostana
The 1 st Summer School of the “CH4.0” (Department of Excellence) project is open to all the Ph.D. students of the doctoral courses belonging to the Department of Chemistry. It will be held in Ostana (CN, Italy), a small alpine village located within the Monviso Natural Park, from 22 to 26 September 2024. This school will be focusing on the strong relationship between environmental chemical processes and the general concept of complexity. Topics of the School will be, for example, the complexity of environmental chemical processes, basic principles and application of chemometrics in environmental sciences, untargeted analysis of environmental contaminants, artificial intelligence (concepts and algorithms), application of QSAR modeling, climate and climate change… The afternoon lessons on the last day will be managed in collaboration with the 2i3t Business Incubator of the University of Torino and will cover more transversal topics and soft skills.
La prima scuola estiva nell'ambito del Progetto Dipartimento di Eccellenza - CH4.0 è aperta a tutte/i le/i dottorande/i dei programmi di dottorato che afferiscono al Dipartimento di Chimica. Si terrà dal 22 al 26 settembre 2024 a Ostana (CN, Italia), un piccolo borgo situato all'interno del Parco Naturale del Monviso. La scuola si concentra sulla forte relazione tra i processi chimici ambientali e il concetto generale di complessità. I temi della scuola saranno, ad esempio, la complessità dei processi chimici ambientali, i principi di base e l'applicazione della chemiometria nelle scienze ambientali, l'analisi non-target dei contaminanti ambientali, l'intelligenza artificiale (concetti e algoritmi), l'applicazione della modellistica QSAR, il clima e i cambiamenti climatici. Le lezioni pomeridiane dell'ultimo giorno saranno gestite in collaborazione con l'Incubatore d'Impresa 2i3t dell'Università di Torino e tratteranno argomenti più trasversali e soft skills.
